I have finally arrived late this afternoon in Saint Jean Pied de Port, which is the starting point for the Camino Frances. It was a very long travel day, but everything went smoothly. I did not get much sleep, though. The minute you walk out of the airport in Biarritz all you see is endless green…grass, plants, hills and I mean so very very green. It’s absolutely beautiful here. After checking into my hotel (with the tiniest room you’ve ever seen), I went straight to the Pelegrino Office to get my Camino Passport and very first stamp in it. This is a very old city with cobblestone streets and very hilly roads. It’s filled with outdoor cafes to pelegrino shops where you really can buy anything you may have forgotten. I walked around town for quite a bit just to soak it all in. I also made 2 new friends on the flight to Biarritz. I will be meeting one of them (Cazz from Australia) at 7 am Friday morning so that we can officially start the Camino together. All in all, so far so good!
