I met Rein from the Netherlands at breakfast, so we started walking together around 8:00. We were soon joined by two women from New Zealand, and the four of us walked together for the first few hours. I find it amazing—the number of countries from all over the world and the different languages spoken.

Once we split up, I came across my friend from the other day, Elin from Iceland, so we walked together for a few hours. That's just how it's done on the Camino. You chat with people for a while, then maybe you want to go slower or faster or just want alone time, so you say "Buen Camino" and separate. Everyone does the same thing. Then you'll see a new friend you've made in a few more days.

The scenery was spectacular as ever. It was very warm today but not so hot that you felt drained.

I'm in my albergue now. I have a private room but shared bathroom and shower. Again, it is very clean and comfortable. I had expected something much different with the albergues but so far am very pleased with them.

A Camino routine is starting to develop. Wake up around 6:00, eat breakfast around 7:00, then start walking at 7:30 or 8:00. Talk to people, don't talk to people, but always follow the yellow shell and arrow signs. Rest periodically. Find your place to stay for the night when you get to town, shower and wash clothes in the shower or sometimes a wash basin, find a mercado for tomorrow's snacks, eat dinner and get ready for the next day. It's a very simple and peaceful life.
