Roncesvalles to Larrasoaña, 18.8 Miles

Today was 18.8 miles. Not nearly as challenging as yesterday—no extreme nonstop incline or treacherous downhill—but challenging enough in its own right, with plenty of ups and downs along the way. A peaceful walk, though, with beautiful scenery and lots of very big horses that seem to be everywhere here.

Today's walking companion was Elin from Iceland, celebrating her upcoming 70th birthday in June. We had that in common. We passed through many small villages and stopped at one place for coffee and the best chocolate croissant I have ever had.

I'm staying in my first albergue tonight and just finished the communal dinner. It's definitely a different way to experience the Camino. The atmosphere is fun—you're sitting at a long table where pretty much everyone is speaking a different language, so it's definitely interesting.

Tomorrow will be an easy day to Pamplona. Only about 12 miles, which sounds easy compared to the last two days.
Buen Camino!
